FAQ on Laser Hair Removal

KEY ISSUES

Laser hair removal is one of the many specialties offered by the Aesthetic Medical Center. It is important to understand that such a treatment is not insignificant and therefore certain precautions are to be taken in order to guarantee you a "definitive" laser hair removal of good quality. Do you have any questions about laser hair removal? Here are our FAQ and don't forget that we are at your disposal to answer them:

FAQ 1- CAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL BE PERFORMED ON A FACE?

It is important to differentiate between the types of hair on a face. Thick hair will be treated with the same laser as for body hair (alexandrite / Yag laser), but these lasers should not be used on down. For this, our laser center is equipped with a Revlite Qswitch laser which allows a denaturation of the down.

FAQ 2- WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE LAST LASER HAIR REMOVAL SESSIONS?

80% of patients need 6 sessions to achieve long term hair removal. 20% of patients will require one maintenance session per year or every 2 years.

FAQ 3- WHAT IS IT LIKE AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

The laser destroys the hair by heating it to a high temperature. As a result, after a laser session, you may be red and feel a tingling sensation. This sensation usually lasts between 2 and 6 hours. A soothing cream is then recommended.

FAQ 4- CAN WE TREAT ALL AREAS OF THE BODY WITH LASER?

If we talk easily about the removal of hair from legs, bikini line, armpits. The attitude is different for sensitive areas: namely the face, stomach, chest, back of men. Indeed if you have never depilated these zones, the laser of definitive hair removal will be to proscribe in favour of the laser Revlite down.

All this is examined and discussed during the initial assessment, which is a must.

FAQ 5- HOW LONG ARE THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL SESSIONS?

The time spent for a session varies according to the surface to be treated and the hairiness. It takes 15 minutes for a bikini and 1 hour for the legs.

FAQ 6- IS THE CHECK-UP APPOINTMENT MANDATORY BEFORE ANY LASER HAIR REMOVAL SESSION?

Completely because there are precautions to be taken according to each patient and the assessment will allow me to explain to you in detail the course of the session and to give you a personalized estimate.

FAQ 7- WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF HORMONAL DISORDER?

Diseases such as polycystic ovaries and hormonal imbalances unfortunately lead to a high level of unwanted hair growth. The laser is a comfort solution but the number of sessions will inevitably be higher.

FAQ 8- HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE NUMBER OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL SESSIONS?

The hair evolves in 3 phases, the laser will be effective in the 1st phase which is the hair growth phase. All the hairs do not grow at the same time and during the same phase, this explains the fact of making several sessions.

FAQ 9- LASER AND SUN ?

When you come for a laser hair removal session, it is imperative that your skin is de-bronzed. Otherwise you risk having spots on your skin. On the other hand, you can go out in the sun the day after the session by applying protection 50 for the 8 to 15 days following the session.

FAQ 10- IS THE LASER PAINFUL?

If you can tolerate waxing, you won't consider laser hair removal painful. However, it is possible to ask us to prescribe an anaesthetic cream to be applied before the session.
